Perchè insegnare la musica ai bambini? Molte ricerche dimostrano come lo studio della musica contribuisca a sviluppare capacità particolari e come aiuti a facilitare i bambini nell’apprendimento regalando loro un modo di vedere le cose e molto più ricco. E dove non arriva la scuola potete iniziare voi genitori.
Musica per bambini: perché è fondamentale insegnarla
L’Italia è un paese in cui nelle scuole l’insegnamento della musica ha un’importanza del tutto marginale, se non quasi assente. Alle elementari, a meno che non capiti la maestra illuminata, è molto raro vedere bambini impegnati a suonare e a cantare, e alle medie la musica viene confinata ad un’ora di studio alla settimana, certamente non sufficiente a consentire un apprendimento soddisfacente ed approfondito. Le superiori poi, a esclusione del liceo musicali, la esclude del tutto.

Questo piano di studio – del tutto italiano, perché, ad esempio, in Germania, i bambini studiano musica sin dall’asilo – è stato fortemente discusso e criticato, soprattutto dai musicisti di professione, che impegnati nella musica ogni giorno della loro vita, possono direttamente vedere i benefici che se ne possono trarre.
Non sono pochi i nomi noti che si sono schierati contro il ruolo pressoché marginale che viene affidato all’educazione musicale nelle scuole, fra questi Claudio Abbado, che è stato uno dei più grandi direttori d’orchestra al mondo e fondatore di ben due orchestre giovanili, convinto che la musica dovesse far parte della vita di ogni essere umano fin dall’infanzia.
Musica per bambini, i benefici dell’educazione musicale
Infatti, è stato dimostrato che studiare musica presenta diversi e comprovati vantaggi: suonare uno strumento anzitutto implica l’utilizzo di diverse abilità, spesso contemporaneamente. Leggere uno spartito, tenere il tempo, allo stesso tempo muovere le dita sullo strumento, nonché cercare un senso nella frase musicale che si sta suonando costringe indubbiamente a usare più parti del cervello simultaneamente.
Oltre a questo, fare musica significa, soprattutto se si inserisce all’interno di un progetto scolastico, farla insieme agli altri. Le esperienze di musica d’insieme aiutano a sviluppare nello studente la capacità di fare le cose in armonia con gli altri, quindi ad ascoltare, a stare attento a quello che gli succede intorno, e a inserirsi armoniosamente nel gruppo.
Suonare uno strumento è parlare meglio
Oltretutto, studiare la musica aiuta anche nello sviluppo del linguaggio: abituando il bambino a percepire e a distinguere i suoni fin da piccolissimo, lo facilita nell’articolazione dei suoni del parlato, stimolando alcune parti del cervello che vengono utilizzate a questo scopo. Se a scuola non lo fanno, iniziate voi genitori a far sentire la musica ai vostri figli, di qualsiasi tipo, in modo che si abituino da subito.
Conoscere la musica è diventare più sensibili
Capire la musica significa anche coltivare una sensibilità particolare, che nella vita di un bambino di conseguenza in quella di un adulto, serve a migliorare il rapporto con gli altri, diventando più empatici e più tolleranti.
Insomma, ascoltare e suonare Mozart rende più intelligenti? Sì. E non solo: rende più sensibili, apre il bambino a un orizzonte più ampio e in definitiva migliora la vita.
